Mitch McVicker More Info and Videos
On Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m., Union Church will host a free solo concert by Dove Award-winning singer and songwriter Mitch McVicker in the sanctuary. Mitch's vocational musical journey began by working with the late Rich Mullins. The two were roommates, and performed concerts and wrote songs together. Shortly after a car accident killed Rich and badly injured Mitch, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” was given the GMA Dove Award for Song of the Year, all while Mitch was in a lengthy and difficult recovery period.
After his recovery, Mitch continued his musical career, influenced by Rich Mullins in music and thought, yet with his own distinct voice and style. Mitch's solo career has spanned over 2,200 concerts in 49 states and 13 countries. Along with recording 11 full-length albums, he has made two EPs and released two live concert DVDs.
This free event is the only currently-scheduled Connecticut concert during Mitch's multi-state tour featuring his new CD, A Shrugging of the Shoulders. His live concert will feature his unique and signature construction of percussion tracks by looping junk, household items and children’s toys. His says his concert is a little bit of “Mark Twain meets MacGyver.” His quirky and inventive approach includes insightful song lyrics, unconventional instruments and profound storytelling. His concert will connect the everyday with the otherworldly.
