What is It?
We believe water baptism is an outward physical picture of an inward spiritual baptism by the Holy Spirit. Water baptism is not a means of salvation nor is it a necessity for salvation; it is simply a testimony of salvation.
We view baptism in two important ways:
It is a “Pledge of Allegiance” to God. It is a believer obeying God’s command to be baptized following salvation. It is identifying you, to the church and to the world, as a follower of Jesus Christ. It is going public with your faith in Jesus Christ and committing to live your life for Him.
It is a picture or symbol of what happens at salvation. It is the way that we identify with what Jesus did on the cross. Many have said that it is an outward picture of an inward reality.
